Second batch of International Welders felicitated by National Skill Development Corporation on receiving job offers in Saudi Arabia

OGM in partnership with IL&FS Skills have successfully trained and placed their second batch of welding graduates into jobs with Nasser S Al Hajri (NSH) in Saudi Arabia. The felicitation ceremony at NSDC office was attended by Mr Manish Kumar (MD & CEO, NSDC) , Mr Sushim Banerjee (CEO Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council) , Mr RCM Reddy (MD & CEO, IL&FS Skills) , Mr Ketul Archarya , Mr Vivek Pandit, many other key personnels from NSDC, IL&FS and OGM Team along with the successful trainees on 6th of March 2017.

The 6 months intensive training program constituted of 3 months of Institute training at IIS Ropar, 3 months of “On the job” training organised by OGM with Leighton India, Indian Sector Skill Council testing and finally Saudi employer testing. The training institute, infrastructure, curriculum, trainers and processes of IIS Ropar were audited and approved by OGM as per Australian Qualification Framework. Trainees underwent rigorous training for TIG, MIG and ARC welding to match to global standards. An important component of the training was actual work on site (OJT) for 3 months where trainees got real exposure and insight into jobs on big sites across Leighton projects in India where safety and technology standards are amongst the best in India. While learning and working on sites, our trainees also earned a handsome stipend with meals and accommodation provided by Leighton India.

Post successful completion of the OJT under OGM’s supervision, candidates prepared for the Indian Government’s Iron and Steel Sector Skill Council testing. Once the candidates were certified by the Indian Government, their resumes were presented to NSH in Saudi Arabia for suitable jobs by OGM. A formal testing was organised in Delhi where trainees’ welding was tested on quality and speed under radiographic testing. On clearing the employer test, job offers were made to 8 successful trainees by NSH with grade and salary confirmation along with other benefits like opportunity to earn over time, boarding, lodging, meals, medical , insurance provided by the company.

OGM in partnership with IL&FS are proud of the world class skills which have been imparted to these young men through our training programs. This opens up a whole new career pathway and puts these men on the global map representing India’s skilled workforce. Our International programs will now be expanded to several IL&FS’s locations across India. For more information please write to
